Reflexology vs. Massage: Why Intention Makes All the Difference

Reflexology vs. Massage: Why Intention Makes All the Difference

It’s Not Just a Foot Rub: Why Intention Changes Everything

I had a little moment of clarity today, and I want to share it with you.

I was thinking about what I love most about reflexology and the energy work I do. The answer came to me pretty quickly.

It’s the intention.

A session with me isn’t willy-nilly. It’s not just rubbing the body from head to toe and hoping for the best. Every touch has a purpose. And the more I sit with that, the more I find myself falling in love with this work all over again.

I’m on the table a lot, too

Here’s something you might not know about me. I receive bodywork on a very regular basis. I go for massages. I love them. They’re beautiful, they feel amazing, and I appreciate every single minute.

And I know a good massage therapist is intentional too. They’re working the areas of your body that need it most.

But when I compare that experience to what happens in my reflexology and energy sessions, something feels different. Not better or worse. Just different.

What I’m actually feeling for

When I’m working with you, I’m feeling for shifts. I’m tuning in to energy, to movement, to resistance. I’m noticing where things flow and where they feel stuck.

It’s honestly a little hard to put into words. It’s tapping in on a much deeper level. I’m taking into consideration your body, your systems, and whatever you happen to be carrying right now, and I let that guide the session.

No two sessions look the same, because no two people are the same. And I think that’s really

special.

I am my own ideal client

Because I’m so immersed in receiving care myself, I know what feels really good. I also know what feels… not so great. I know what it’s like to lie on the table and feel truly held. And I know what it’s like to feel like just one more appointment in someone’s day.

So I bring the same care into my sessions that I look for when I’m the one receiving.

In a lot of ways, I am my ideal client. I know the feelings. I know what you’re hoping for when you finally carve out that time for yourself.

Talking about it makes me better at it

Just saying all of this out loud has made me even more aware of how I show up for you. I’m walking away from it with a promise to myself: to be even more intentional, and to do an even better job of what I do.

How cool is it that I get to offer this to more people? To my people?

If you’ve been curious

If you’ve ever wondered whether reflexology is “just a foot massage,” I hope this gives you a little peek behind the curtain. It’s slow. It’s intentional. It’s about listening to your body and supporting your nervous system so it can find its way back to calm.

If that sounds like something you need right now, I’d love to see you on my table.
