A Guide To Grounding Yourself

Grounding is an important concept when it comes to our health and well-being. When we ground ourselves, we reconnect and realign our energies with the earth.

As humans, our energy floods our mind creating unnecessary stress, worry and anxiety. Grounding helps pull our energies downward. It helps us become more aware and enhance our mental, physical and emotional well-being. When our mind is clear, we are able to become more balanced.

Barefoot Walking

Our bodies are made up of atoms. We have negative electrons and positive protons which make the atom neutral. Sometimes these atoms lose an electron, which then changes it to a "free radical" with a positive charge. This is not a good thing for our bodies.  Free radicals can cause stress, damage our cells and more.

The earth's surface has a negative charge that is constantly producing those electrons. This is why walking barefoot can neutralize free radicals in our body.

Take a stroll on the beach or through your yard with no shoes on. Salt water is very grounding and the ocean water is extremely cleansing.

Place your hands on a tree, imagine releasing your energies into that tree, allowing the energy to flow through your arms and hands. You can actually feel this tingly feeling flow through your arms and fingertips. Once you have released the energy, absorb what the tree is giving back to you.

Take A Bath

Having a relaxing bath can make a world of a difference for your emotional, mental and physical state of mind.

Pairing that bath with a salt mixture of Epsom salts, sea salts, himalayan salts and your favorite therapeutic essential oils will bring that bath to an entire new level.  Your quality of product does matter here.

Both the grounding and therapeutic affects of the salt and essential oils combined will leave you feeling grounded, balanced and ready to take on anything.

Practice Yoga

Yoga is a spiritual discipline which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and science of healthy living.

Breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation

Any position is beneficial and will help ground you when it comes to yoga. It's as easy as taking a few moments each day to do a couple simple poses.

I love starting my day with these simple, yet effective ones.

  • Mountain Pose
  • Downward Facing Dog
  • Tree
  • Warrior 1
  • Warrior 2
  • Child's Pose
Be sure to spread your fingers wide when your hands are on the ground and directing pressure and energy through the center of your palms down into the earth.
When standing, become aware of the entire surface of the soles of the feet. Direct pressure and energy down through the ball of the foot, the center of the heel and the pinky toe mound.
